Intra-Oral Respirometer

A miniaturized multimodal intra-oral wearable designed for continuous respiratory and physiological monitoring during physical activity and clinical rehabilitation, integrating custom electronics, embedded firmware, and wireless biofeedback.

Overview

From need to functional engineering system.

The system integrates pressure sensing, PPG, IMU, FSR, BLE, haptic feedback, battery management, and wireless charging within a compact intra-oral assembly and real-time interface.

My contribution

  • Conceived the device and full hardware architecture.
  • Designed and laid out the main PCB and miniaturized PPG board.
  • Integrated physiological sensing, BLE, haptics, battery management, and wireless charging.
  • Developed assembly and encapsulation workflows for the intra-oral device.
  • Validated system performance under static and dynamic conditions in ten participants.
