Tongue-Trackpad

A wireless intra-oral wearable platform for quantitative tongue assessment and precision visual-feedback rehabilitation of neurologically impaired individuals following stroke and traumatic brain injury.

Overview

From need to functional engineering system.

The project evolved an established rigid device toward enhanced planar and anatomically conforming flexible PCB architectures, combining sensing-array redesign, electronic miniaturization, mechanical integration, characterization, and clinical evaluation.

My contribution

  • Designed and assembled successive rigid and flexible PCB iterations.
  • Expanded the active sensing area by 11.23% and geometrically validated the sensing matrix.
  • Developed compact and anatomically conforming architectures for improved intra-oral fit.
  • Created test methods and analysis workflows for device characterization.
  • Supported IRB-approved evaluations and quantitative rehabilitation analysis.
